Portfolio of Written Work

I have over twenty years of experience in mixed media service provision, a well-practised talent for creative writing, and an instinct for collaboration that brings ideas and people together. My portfolio includes work undertaken by my own company Analysis Lost Productions (most notably the independent music documentary Black Stars of Highlife) and by Those Media Guys*, the creative agency I co-founded in Edinburgh and ran from 2005 to 2019. Video production and post-production were at the forefront of the content services we delivered to private- and public-sector clients including RBS, Visit Scotland, and NHS Education for Scotland.

As a creative producer/director, I have worn many hats. Moreover, I have developed skills across a range of creative disciplines. From a background in video production, I found myself specialising more and more in eLearning content development. This has culminated in me recently joining Reed Business School as their eLearning Content Creator.

* Those Media Guys ceased trading in 2019 and became a trading name of Analysis Lost.

Through TMG, I spent eight years contracting with the SANS Institute, a global leader in cybersecurity awareness training. As one of the original members of their content team, I began as an animator of 2.5D video modules and later devised and implemented a new protocol for storyboarding their flagship End User series of animated training videos. I managed the storyboarding workflow for all video output and led a team producing 2D and 3D visual assets. In 2017 I helped the department rebrand to a new 2D style, creating a recurring cast of characters, and in 2018 I developed an entirely new strand of live action training videos. I wrote the scripts for 24 episodes and took the lead on pre-production and QA.

From 2020, I spent three years contracting with iAM Learning, a UK-based eLearning specialist. As a scriptwriter and art director, I oversaw training-course projects from initial research through to final animation—on topics ranging from project management methodologies to health and safety, and from financial literacy to crafting effective social media posts. I guided storyboard artists and animators, produced mock-ups where needed, and handled QA on visuals and voiceovers.

I specialise in communication through storytelling, whether in advertising, marketing, or knowledge transfer. My experience as a creative director has sharpened my instincts for conceiving and developing content that captures attention and resonates. My new role at Reed Business School brings together everything I’ve learned about creative communication, learning design, and technology. I’m particularly excited by the challenge of shaping a production workflow that uses the latest AI tools not just to work faster, but to craft smarter, more inspiring learning experiences for students.
